Adobe Premiere Pro News: Premiere Is Now on Android (Free, No Watermark)

If you follow Adobe Premiere Pro news, this is the biggest update of the year for creators who work on their phones.

Adobe has brought its Premiere mobile app to Android, and it’s completely free. No watermark, no ads, and unlimited 4K exports. Adobe announced the Android release on September 22, 2026, roughly a year after the app first arrived on iPhone.

In this post I’ll cover what you actually get for free, how to edit a video in the app, whether your phone can run it, and what Premiere Pro costs in 2026 if you decide you need the desktop version too.

Is This Premiere Pro on Your Phone?

Not exactly, and this is where most people get confused.

Premiere Pro is Adobe’s full professional editing software for Windows and Mac. It’s a paid subscription, and it’s what film and YouTube editors use every day.

Adobe Premiere (the app in this post) is the mobile version. It’s free, it runs on your phone, and it has a simpler set of tools built for short-form content.

They’re related, but not the same thing. You cannot run full Premiere Pro on a phone, and any app or APK claiming otherwise is fake. What you can do is start a project on your phone and finish it in Premiere Pro on your computer later, and Adobe says that seamless desktop workflow is coming to the Android app soon.

The mobile app replaced Adobe’s older mobile editor. Adobe launched Premiere on iPhone on 30 September 2025 as a replacement for Premiere Rush, and said an Android version was in development at the time.

What’s Free and What Costs Money

The core editor is free, there’s no forced login, exports come out without a watermark, and Adobe says the app runs without ads or upgrade prompts. You don’t need a Creative Cloud subscription.

Free forever:

  • Split, trim, crop and merge footage
  • Adjust video speed
  • Add text, effects and audio layers like voiceovers
  • Unlimited 4K exports with no watermark, sized for any platform

What costs money: the generative AI features. If you want AI-created sound effects or AI-generated assets from Adobe Firefly, you buy generative credits. Extra cloud storage is also a paid add-on.

So editing is genuinely free. Only heavy AI use has a price attached.

Can Your Phone Run It?

Here’s the disappointing part for some people. The app needs Android 13 or newer and at least 5GB of RAM, which rules out older and budget phones.

To check, go to Settings → About phone and look at your Android version and RAM.

If your phone qualifies, you’re in good shape. Support is already wide across Android devices and form factors, including optimisation for foldables.

How to Download Adobe Premiere

Step 1: Open the Google Play Store on Android, or the App Store on iPhone.

Step 2: Search for Adobe Premiere.

Step 3: Check that the developer is Adobe before installing. There are copycat apps with similar names.

Step 4: Install and open it. There’s no forced login, so you can start editing straight away.

Can’t find it in the Play Store? Your phone probably doesn’t meet the Android 13 and 5GB RAM requirement, so the store hides it. Please don’t go looking for an APK from a random website. Those files are frequently repackaged with malware, and Adobe doesn’t distribute the app that way.

How to Edit a Video in Adobe Premiere (Mobile)

If you’ve never used a proper editor before, here’s the basic flow:

Step 1: Start a project. Open the app and import the clips you want to use from your gallery.

Step 2: Arrange your clips on the timeline. This is where Premiere is different from most free mobile editors. It has a multi-track timeline, so you can layer video, music, voiceovers and effects on top of each other instead of squeezing everything into one line.

Step 3: Cut precisely. Frame-accurate editing lets you trim exactly where you want, rather than dragging roughly and hoping for the best.

Step 4: Fix your audio. Use Enhance Audio to reduce background noise and make speech clearer. If you record outdoors or in a room with an echo, this one feature will transform your videos.

Step 5: Add the finishing touches. Pull in transitions, effects, music and creative assets from Adobe Stock, or start from a creator-made template. Android is also getting YouTube Shorts templates, title presets, transitions and effects that the iPhone app already has.

Step 6: Export. Choose 4K and the size you need for your platform, and export. No watermark, no export limit.

I’ve been using Adobe Premiere on my phone myself, and so far, I’m getting really good results. What I like most is that you can export videos in 4K at 60 FPS with high quality, and the export process doesn’t take too long either. Even with high-quality videos, the export is surprisingly quick, which makes it much more practical for editing on mobile.

Adobe Premiere Pro Price in 2026 (Desktop)

If the mobile app makes you curious about the desktop version, here’s roughly what it costs.

As of mid-2026, Adobe lists Premiere Pro as a single-app plan from around $22.99/month on the annual, billed-monthly plan, with Creative Cloud Standard at $54.99/month and Creative Cloud Pro at $69.99/month before any promotions. Students and teachers get a much bigger discount, with reported pricing around $19.99/month for the full Creative Cloud suite.

If you want to try before paying, Adobe offers a free trial through its website, and buying through the Creative Cloud site typically includes a 7-day free trial.

⚠️ Prices change often, vary by country, and Adobe runs frequent promotions, so always check Adobe’s official site for the current price where you live. And never buy a “cheap Premiere Pro key” from a random seller. Those licences get revoked, and you lose both the software and your money.

The honest advice: if you mainly make Reels, Shorts and TikToks, the free mobile app will cover almost everything you need. The desktop subscription is worth it when you’re doing long-form work, multi-camera edits, or round-tripping with After Effects.

Adobe Premiere vs CapCut

Adobe is walking straight into CapCut’s territory. Premiere is now competing with established apps like CapCut, LumaFusion, InShot and VN.

Choose Adobe Premiere if you want a real multi-track timeline, frame-accurate cuts, clean 4K exports with no watermark, no ads, and strong audio cleanup.

Stick with CapCut if you rely on trending templates, auto-captions and its enormous library of viral effects, or if your phone doesn’t meet Premiere’s requirements.

Honestly, having both isn’t a bad idea. CapCut for fast trend edits, Premiere when you want more control and a cleaner result.

What’s Coming Next

Adobe says more features are on the way, including Adobe Fonts, enhanced captions, and a continued editing experience between the mobile app and Premiere on desktop.

That last one is the interesting one. Being able to shoot and rough-cut on your phone, then finish properly on a computer, is exactly how a lot of creators already work.

Final Thoughts

A free, watermark-free, ad-free editor with a real multi-track timeline and unlimited 4K export is a serious offer, and this is easily the most useful Adobe Premiere Pro news for mobile creators this year.

If your phone meets the requirements, install it and try one edit today. Even if you stay with CapCut for daily work, Enhance Audio alone makes it worth keeping on your phone.

Have you tried it? Tell me in the comments how it runs on your device, and I’ll add the best feedback to this post.
